Overview

The Whispering Waves Cottages are located in the tiny village of Ingomar, Shelburne County, in the South Shore region of Nova Scotia. The sound of the waves rhythmically splashing on the shore and the smell of the crisp salt air will soothe you, body and soul.

Pack a lunch, walk or borrow one of our bikes and travel to Roseway, Round Bay, or the pristine dunes of Redhead Beach, just a few of the many white sandy beaches in the area. Relax in the sun, bring along your camera or art supplies, or launch your kayak. Children and adults alike can enjoy mackerel fishing at Ingomar wharf or an evening bonfire and cookout at the harbour's edge. After a day of exploring, bicycling, kayaking or lying on the beach, consider a cozy fire in your spacious oceanfront cottage.

Shelburne, Lockeport and Cape Sable Island are nearby coastal communities and make wonderful self-guided day trips. Each offers an opportunity to attend local events and attractions and explore the historic charm, rural life and fishing heritage of the region. Shelburne, situated on a large, beautiful natural harbour has a prestigious historic district with museums, fine restaurants, retail and craft shops and authentic 18th-Century heritage properties. Nearby is The Islands Provincial Park, a great place to take a leisurely walk near the harbour's edge. Bring along some 'bunny food' for the large rabbits have made the park their home. As you cross the causeway to Cape Sable Island there are colorful fishing boats, fish plants and boat-building yards. The hustle and bustle of a centuries-old fishing industry is still very much alive. Lockeport, home of Nova Scotia's only Registered Historic Streetscape, is known for its five white sand beaches at the entrance to the town. The expansive, ocean beaches, the salt-water marsh, the freshwater pond and other habitats make it an awesome bird watching area.

Our accommodations include six deluxe 2-bedroom cottages (Queen-sized bed; sleeps up to six people), 3-piece (Tub) or 4-piece bath (double Jacuzzi). Satellite television, barbecue and laundry facilities are available. Relax on a private veranda, the gazebo or outdoor fireplace and watch as the sun dips below the horizon. Enjoy the view of Ingomar Harbour from the living room or kitchen. Bikes, fishing rods and boogie boards are available, as well as boat rides. We are recommended by Frommer’s.
