The Back Shore is one of the most spectacular, unspoiled sites in Nova Scotia. This very secluded 30-acre location at Moshers Beach is cradled by surrounding pastoral hills, with extensive walking trails, access and ocean views to Gaff Point Nature Trust and Hirtles Beach. Built on what was once the 400-year old ruins of an abandoned village, this environmentally sensitive enclave focuses on the undisturbed beauty of the South Shore.

Designed for honeymoon couples or a family of four or five, each of the oceanfront cottages offer a rustic elegance with style, comfort and unparalleled views.As with all the details, the craftsmanship is superb from the floors to the cathedral ceilings. Built-in cabinetry curves and bends around 50-feet of 7-foot tall windows, custom tile and maple floors.

Each cottage is approximately 800 + sq.ft. with two (2) private decks, wood stove, fully equipped kitchen, dining area, living bay, two private bedrooms and luxurious bath.Individual or multiple cottages can be rented on a weekly basis. The studio and the historic octagonal barn can be rented for events and are ideal for art workshops, weddings, equestrian vacations, family reunions or corporate retreats. 

Your vacation begins on the Mira with Cape Breton hospitality, a European flair, fine cuisine, and nature's abundance. We are able to present a varied and fun-filled vacation for the family with hiking trails, canoes, boat tours, and fishing. We are only a few minutes away from Sydney and the many venues that offer family fun and relaxation, as well as shopping, fine cuisine and family-style dining. We are also within driving distance to whale watching tours, the Fortress of Louisbourg, the Nova Scotia Highland Village, Cape Breton Miner's Museum, and the Bell Bay Golf Club.

Our accommodations include four housekeeping cottages which include either king-sized beds that convert to twin beds or double beds, 3-piece (shower) or 4-piece baths (one with roll-in shower), cable television, free Wi-Fi, and hardwood floors. We also have to light-housekeeping motel units. We offer a licensed restaurant and banquet room on site. Service is provided in English and German.

Television and VCR are available, as is a barbecue. Guests have complete access to our outdoor retreat including the use of canoes, paddle boats, the stocked fish pond and other facilities. There are miles of roads and well-marked trails to explore and the on-site Loughhead Family Demonstration Forest is a fun way to learn about the trees and vegetation of Nova Scotia.
