North Lake PEI Cottage Rental - Sleeps 12 to 13

Welcome to our ocean front beach house located at North Lake, Prince Edward Island, the Tuna Capital of the World.

This very spacious PEI cottage sleeps 12 and is wheelchair accessible. If your party is large or small you’ll still have the cozy feeling of home.  The beach house is right at oceans edge with stairs to the water for your walks along the beach or that refreshing dip into the Gulf of St. Lawrence. Picturesque North Lake harbour is only a walk down the road where you can watch the tuna fishermen bring in their 800 to 1000 lb blue fin tuna fish. Even better go out on a tuna charter and catch your own blue fin tuna to brag about!

Although you are near the eastern end of the island, which is considered rural Prince Edward Island you are still close to amenities such as grocery stores, hospital, craft shops, fresh seafood, and island cuisine. Besides the beautiful beach out your door there are 7 other beaches for you to explore.  The Singing Sands beach is only 10 minutes away and considered the nicest beach on the island.  It is called the “singing sands” for a reason… as you walk on the sands you will hear it sing.  Also, it is a popular spot for the visitors and locals to swim and jump off the bridge to let the tides take you out to the sandbar.

If you like to explore and keep busy there are all kinds of things to see and do close to the beach house.  The island is known for the lighthouse landmarks and 5 minutes away you can climb to the top of the East Point Lighthouse to see the breathtaking vista of the island.  It is also where the tides of the Norththumberland Strait and the Gulf of St. Lawrence meets and in a storm it is impressive with the action of the waves and surf that spin off the crashing together.  Are you a biker, walker or jogger then the Confederation Trail is what you should experience? Not far from the cottage is the Confederation Trail, which is a biking and walking trail that goes from one end of the island to the other.  Elmira Train Station Museum is where the end of  the line is located it is where the train of PEI ended before the tracks were picked up and the walking biking trail was made for everyone to enjoy.

If you are a golfer then you will think you’ve struck it rich…. There are 26 golf courses on the island and some of the finest in Canada.  The government courses are Brudenell, Dundarave, Crowbush, and Mill River although you will have to travel an hour to 3 of them it will be worth the drive.  Beside these courses there is a 9 hole in Souris and 3 other courses in eastern PEI.

Island cuisine is a must when you come to the island considering we have such fresh seafood not to mention the fresh beef and vegetables that you’ll find at the Farmers Markets or the roadside vegetable stands.  If you come in May and June you can taste the fresh lobsters that you can find at any wharf during the season.  After the season closes the lobster can be found at the fishermen market or the plants.

During your stay at this PEI Beach House you will experience breathtaking sunsets … Beautiful!!!
